Shryock Auditorium located at 1050 S Normal Ave, Carbondale, IL 62901 on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Named for the fifth president of the university, Henry William Shryock, who died inside the building just before a student convocation on April 13, 1935. This 1200 seat capacity auditorium is a focal point for musical performance and distinguished lectures across the SIUC campus.
Designed by the State Architect, James B. Dibelka of Chicago, Illinois, and construction awarded to Champaign area general contractor Mr. A. W. Stoolman; construction of the auditorium began in mid-1916, following the award of $135,000.00 for construction by the Forty-ninth General Assembly of the State of Illinois in early 1915.
