En 1949 se adquiere una estatua de Santiago Apóstol , como patrón de la cofradía de pescadores del mismo nombre que existía en El Puertito de Güíma.
La imagen fue bendecida en la Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol por el párroco-arcipreste de Güímar, don Matías Batista Díaz, y luego llevada en procesión hasta El Puertito . El día 25 del mismo mes se celebró la primera fiesta , que se celebró tanto ese año como en los siguientes en un lugar preparado para tal efecto.
En julio de 1952 la estatua de la Virgen del Carmen fue bendecida por el mismo sacerdote.
La capilla fue construida en un terreno donado por el médico don Radamés Polegre Socas y su esposa, doña Ángeles García Fumero y fue bendecida en 1953 por el párroco-arcipreste de Güímar, don Matías Batista Díaz. El reloj fue adquirido en 1956 y una imagen del Crucificado en 1957. En 1966 se fundó la parroquia de Santiago Apóstol…
