Se asciende hacia glaciares resplandecientes, cascadas rugientes y arroyos glaciares burbujeantes. Cerca de las famosas cascadas de Umbal, en Prägraten a.G./Ströden, comienza la primera etapa del Adlerweg en Osttirol. Al principio, el camino atraviesa un claro bosque de laricios, pronto se escuchan el silbido de las marmotas. Pasando por la cabaña Göriacher Ochsner con una parada en la cabaña Essener-Rostocker, continuando por el camino Schweriner, pasando por debajo del Kleine Geiger hacia el "Türmljoch" y a lo largo de las indicativas torres de piedras hacia la cabaña Johannishütte, la cabaña más antigua de los Alpes Orientales. Fue construida en 1857 y renovada en 1999. Un destino anhelado, ya que esta etapa es larga, pero especialmente hermosa en términos paisajísticos.
