El hipódromo de Gaverbeek es conocido por Waregem Koerse. La carrera se celebra cada año el martes después del último fin de semana de agosto. La carrera existe desde 1848 y consta de ocho carreras, tanto de trote como de galope.
En las carreras de galope también hay saltos de obstáculos, siendo la Berm irlandesa y el salto sobre Gaverbeek los obstáculos más conocidos y notorios. Recientemente, los obstáculos se han adaptado para hacerlos más amigables para los animales.
El punto culminante de la carrera, el Gran Steeple Chase de Flandes, es la mayor carrera de Flandes.
