La heather de Mechelen y el valle del Ziepbeek es un área Natura 2000 en Flandes. Esta área se extiende desde Dilsen-Stokkem hasta Lanaken, en paralelo al valle del Mosa. Es parte del Parque Nacional Hoge Kempen: 3741 ha del parque está delimitado como una zona de especial protección europea. Esta área consiste en una colección de reservas naturales y forestales y bosques de dominio. El paisaje está dominado por vastos campos de brezo, rodeados de densos bosques. En las entradas del acantilado empinado brotan pequeños arroyos flanqueados por brezos húmedos.
