La vigésima edición del Artefact Festival en Lovaina fue una búsqueda de respuestas artísticas a cuestiones sociales. La pregunta clave era, por tanto, la siguiente: ¿puede el arte disipar la soledad? El tema 'Alone Together' se enfoca en estar solo, la soledad y la conexión. Estamos más conectados que nunca a través de nuestros teléfonos inteligentes, pero la soledad es un problema creciente en la sociedad. STUK pidió a artistas y músicos internacionales que comenzaran con esto.
Por ejemplo, el conocido artista de Lovaina Bisser realizó un mural monumental en toda la pared lateral de Sac à Pain en Maria Theresiastraat. Bisser no está listo para su pieza de prueba porque el residente de Lovaina ya ha trabajado en paredes en Lovaina, Gante, Ibiza y Nueva York.
En filosofía, horror vacui representa la incertidumbre del hombre, que no puede vivir con dudas e incertidumbres y preguntas sin respuesta.
