La Puerta Azul es la única que queda de siete puertas de entrada alrededor de los terrenos del castillo de Ooidonk. También se le llama "Porta arboreti" .
La puerta data de alrededor de 1595 pero se dice que la estructura actual data de alrededor de 1864 . El piso del ático de la puerta de entrada solía servir como palomar.
Tener palomas solía ser un privilegio. Las palomas comían el grano, por lo que su número era limitado. Solo el ciudadano acomodado tenía derecho a tener palomas. Los palomares de antaño son edificios reales.
