Esta iglesia surgió como la tercera iglesia parroquial de Izegem. Las otras dos parroquias, Sint-Tillo y Heilig Hart, se encuentran en el centro, demasiado lejos para los habitantes de Bosmolens. A medida que la población de Bosmolens sigue creciendo, desde principios de 1900 surge la demanda de una parroquia propia. No fue hasta 1941 que el obispo aprobó. Después, pasaron otros 20 años antes de que se construyera la iglesia parroquial blanca. La causa de esta pérdida de tiempo estaría relacionada con una disputa personal entre la Comisión decisiva y el arquitecto izegemense Emiel Allewaert. ¡Allewaert tuvo que proponer nada menos que 13 planos antes de que finalmente obtuviera una aprobación!
