Estamos en el IJse. Este es un río que nace en el bosque de Soignes en Sint Genius-Rode. Luego, el IJse fluye a través de Hoeilaart, Overijse, Huldenberg y Loonbeek para desembocar finalmente en Neerijse en el Dijle. El valle del IJse se caracteriza por muchas fuentes, a menudo en la transición entre el valle y la pendiente. El valle está rellenado con material de arcilla y limo y se asienta sobre la arcilla de Kortrijk. La capa de agua que alimenta las fuentes se encuentra en la arena bruselense. En la parte superior de la meseta, hay tierras fértiles de limo muy adecuadas para la agricultura. Estas se encuentran sobre la arena bruselense.
Según los estándares flamencos, el IJse tiene un gran desnivel y las paredes del valle son empinadas. Caminando hacia el sauce (que es un tilo) lo hemos experimentado en carne propia.
En Brabante flamenco, este es uno de los ríos menos contaminados con muchos peces como la trucha de arroyo, el pez gato de río y el cabezón.
