El programa de televisión turística "Flandes, Tierra de Vacaciones" buscó en 2013 la mejor caminata de Flandes. Esta caminata en De Blankaart fue una de las nominadas. La ruta es la mezcla ideal de aventura, naturaleza y un poco de cultura. La reserva natural De Blankaart se encuentra a apenas 2,6 metros
sobre el nivel del mar y es una extensa llanura de prados y praderas húmedas de baja altitud. La llanura de Ijzer está salpicada de agua, puentes y la fauna y flora asociadas. Se recomiendan botas.
