El canal Datteln-Hamm es una vía fluvial federal y se desvía en Datteln del canal Dortmund-Ems. Desde aquí, discurre paralelamente al Lippe por su lado sur en dirección este a través de Waltrop, Lünen, Bergkamen hasta Hamm. Allí termina en el puerto canal Schmehausen cerca de la central eléctrica de Westfalen.
