La fábrica de briquetas "Hohenzollern" se encontraba en el noreste de la ciudad balneario de Bad Liebenwerda, en el sur de Brandeburgo. Se construyó entre 1889 y 1890 bajo la dirección del empresario Carl Schwabach, quien también es considerado uno de los fundadores de la industria regional del carbón marrón.
Los edificios aún existentes eran similares en su estructura y disposición a los de la fábrica de briquetas en Beutersitz, a pocos kilómetros de distancia. En mayo de 1890, la fábrica se puso en funcionamiento. Se abastecía de carbón marrón de la mina de extracción subterránea "Daniel" de Rothstein a través de un teleférico de aproximadamente 6,5 kilómetros de longitud, que era impulsado por una máquina de vapor de 23 HP.
