La pequeña reserva natural se encuentra en el borde del campo de entrenamiento de Senne y presenta características típicas del paisaje de Senne: En el suelo arenoso pobre en nutrientes crecen pastizales de arena y brezo, dominando los árboles los abetos y los pinos. El paisaje de brezales plano muestra una alta diversidad de especies. En el borde norte, en épocas pasadas, se extrajo arena hasta la capa de marga subyacente. En la excavación, el agua se acumula en algunos lugares y favorece el crecimiento de especies que prefieren suelos húmedos y arcillosos.
