El manantial de Vechte se encuentra en el borde de Darfeld, más específicamente en la aldea de Oberdarfeld. Se origina de un pequeño pozo de manantial con varias fuentes subterráneas brotando y puntos de filtración superficiales. Desde el pequeño puente sobre el pozo de manantial, se puede ver el agua burbujear si se observa con atención.
En los últimos años, las medidas de renaturalización han mejorado las condiciones ecológicas del manantial de Vechte. Además, en 2003 fue declarado como área protegida.
En la fuente de Oberdarfeld también comienza un popular sendero ciclista que se extiende a lo largo de 225 kilómetros hasta los Países Bajos. Aquí, el Vechte desemboca, tras 182 kilómetros de longitud, en el Zwarte Wasser en Zwolle y luego fluye hacia el Ijsselmeer.
