El llamado hoy parque Duarte, era el antiguo parque centra o de recreación que fue creado por la fundación progresista del yaqué que se formó en 1884 el 16 de Agosto con su presidente al frente Ulises Franco Bido, y en ese mismo año ello con Ulises al frente. Le surge la idea por la falta de lugar de recreación en el lugar, Inicialmente fue una glorieta de dos pisos de madera, el plano lo diseño el ing.Bidwell y también diseño la obra de jardinería.
En Julio del 1913 año del natalicio Juan Pablo Duarte el Ayuntamiento de Santiago acuerda cambiarle el nombre del Parque Central por el histórico, de Duarte.
Ce encuentra ubicado en la calle 30 de Marzo de esta ciudad.
