El mercado artesanal que entró en funcionamiento desde el 24 de Julio de 1982, es el sitio de integración de artesanos y comerciantes cuya mercadería se basa en manufacturas. Su construcción, es obra del Municipio con el propósito de facilitar la comercialización de artesanías, además de crear plazas de trabajo y favorecer al turismo nacional y extranjero.
El edificio ocupa una cuadra, es de dos pisos que se dividen en cubículos, posee 250 locales comerciales y tiene los servicios básicos al servicio de los comerciantes y visitantes.
En el lugar se encuentran talleres especializados en joyería, malatería, relojería, productos en varios materiales como: cuero, madera, tejidos, paja toquilla, acero, cobre, plata, a demás: instrumentos, cuadros, y pinturas.
