Ruiloba es un municipio situado en la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria , en la comarca de la Costa Occidental y partido judicial de San Vicente de la Barquera. Es de tamaño pequeño . Su nombre proviene de río de la Loba), lo que delata un origen fluvial que, por lo demás, es frecuente en Cantabria. Por ello tiene en su escudo la figura de un lobo.
