Pozuelo de Alarcón es una ciudad y municipio español perteneciente a la Comunidad de Madrid, situado en el área metropolitana, al oeste de la capital. Tiene una extensión de 43,2 km², y con 86 422 habitantes en 2019 es la decimocuarta localidad madrileña por población.[2][3]
Está situado en una zona de suaves ondulaciones, con amplios espacios naturales abastecidos por numerosos arroyos, cuyos pozos dan nombre al municipio.[4][5][6] Los orígenes del núcleo actual de Pozuelo de Alarcón se remontan a la época de la Reconquista, y hasta mediados del siglo XIX, la ciudad ejerció la función principal de abastecer a Madrid de todo tipo de bienes, entre los que destacan los de orígenes agropecuarios y relacionados con la industria del curtido.[7]
