Los Siete Picos es uno de los macizos montañosos más importantes y singulares de la sierra de Guadarrama . Tiene una altitud máxima de 2138 metros y está situado en el límite entre la Comunidad de Madrid y la provincia de Segovia , a 19 km al sur de Segovia. El pico más elevado de los siete que componen el macizo y en el que se erige el vértice geodésico, recibe popularmente el nombre de pico de Somontano.
Esta montaña está en la zona central del cordal montañoso principal de la sierra de Guadarrama. Su cara norte pertenece al término municipal de Real Sitio de San Ildefonso y la sur al de Cercedilla . Siete Picos está encajado entre el puerto de la Fuenfría al oeste, el puerto de Navacerrada al este, el valle de Valsaín al norte y el valle de Navalmedio al sureste.
