El Jardín de plantas de París , con una extensión de 23,5 hectáreas, es un jardín botánico abierto al público. Se encuentra en París, en el 5ème arrondissement de París, entre la Gran Mezquita, el Campus Universitario de Jussieu y el río Sena.
El jardín botánico, con todos los edificios que contiene, es desde 1635 la sede de una de las principales instituciones francesas de investigación científica. De 1635 a 1793 fue llamado oficialmente Jardin royal des plantes médicinales pero con el tiempo se le acabó por llamar por la forma abreviada Jardin des plantes . En 1793 la Revolución francesa cambió el nombre del Jardín Real por el de Muséum national d'histoire naturelle .
