El poblado fortificado se estableció en círculos concéntricos, todavía claramente visibles, alrededor de un montículo artificial resultante del amontonamiento de tierra de la excavación del foso defensivo. Esta Motte, mencionada en los textos a partir del siglo IX, se eleva 12 metros de altura, sobre una base de 40 metros, coronada por las ruinas de una torre poligonal de sílex con encadenamiento de sillería en los bordes. Este torreón (catalogado como Monumento Histórico desde 1971) data del siglo XI y contaba con dos pisos donde vivían el señor y su familia. Es la única torre fortificada de la Alta Edad Media que sigue en pie en el Loiret.
