El Muro de Adriano es una antigua fortificación defensiva de la provincia romana de Britania iniciada en el año 122 durante el reinado del emperador Adriano.[1] Se extendía desde las orillas del río Tyne, cerca del mar del Norte, hasta el fiordo de Solway, en el mar de Irlanda, y permitía al Imperio romano proyectar su poder hacia el norte, en las tierras de los antiguos britanos, incluidos los pictos.
