El Sitio de Budapest fue una batalla que tuvo lugar en la capital húngara entre el otoño de 1944 y el 13 de febrero de 1945, y tuvo como resultado la captura de Budapest por parte del Ejército Rojo.
La ciudad era un importante centro de la Europa central, además de ser la capital del último aliado que le quedaba a la Alemania nazi. Su posición constituía además una barrera que protegía las regiones meridionales del Reich alemán y las últimas reservas petrolíferas que estaban en manos alemanas. Frente al poderoso Ejército soviético se oponían grupos selectos de defensores y tropas de élite alemanas, que incluían a tropas de las Waffen-SS y fuerzas húngaras. En el conjunto de los enfrentamientos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en términos de bajas la de Budapest se puede comparar con las sangrientas batallas de Stalingrado y Berlín.
