Wellenstein consiste en gran parte en viñedos, lo que se refleja en el escudo de la localidad que muestra tres hojas de uva.
En el pueblo de Wellenstein se encuentra la mayor cooperativa vinícola de Luxemburgo. En más de 230 hectáreas de viñedos, esta cooperativa produce más de 3 500 000 litros de vino. El pueblo de Wellenstein tiene un antiguo carácter rural; en el núcleo característico del pueblo se encuentran casas del siglo XVIII. También hay una notable guardería que sirve como escuela infantil, diseñada por el arquitecto luxemburgués François Valentiny.
