Aquí antes se encontraba un castillo. El castillo se llamaba primero 'Huis Berch Eyck'. Durante la Guerra de los Ochenta Años, se convirtió en una de las muchas fortificaciones alrededor de Den Bosch. El líder militar Mauricio lo ocupó en su momento, pero también lo perdió ante los españoles.
El castillo de Bergeijk ha existido durante mucho tiempo como ruina. En el siglo XIX se rellenaron los fosos. Desde hace aproximadamente cien años no había nada visible del castillo en el terreno. Hasta hace unos años, las contornos del castillo han sido marcadas nuevamente.
El castillo aéreo de Bergeijk es una de las ubicaciones en la ruta ciclista 'Los gatos danzantes de Bergeijk'.
