La estatua fue colocada en 2009 y entregada al pueblo por el municipio de Sluis el 11 de junio de 2010 como parte del 500 aniversario de Breskens.
Se trata de una de las tres obras de arte colocadas a lo largo del dique por el municipio de Sluis.
La imagen fue creada por J Pan, seudónimo de Joseph Pannecoucke. Es un entusiasta del ciclismo y el impulsor de Artpro-Art.
