La Iglesia de Paulus fue construida en el siglo XVI por Dom Bartolomeu dos Mártires para la Compañía de Jesús en el Seminario de Santiago.
La iglesia forma parte del edificio que alberga el Museo Pío XII .
La fachada es más bien sencilla y austera, rematada por un frontón triangular con una ventana circular. La iglesia tiene una sola puerta de entrada, enmarcada por columnas a los lados y un frontón encima. Fue diseñada por André Soares. En contraste con la fachada, el interior es impresionante y está considerado como la mejor colección de arte barroco de la ciudad durante los reinados de João Pedro II y V.
Tiene una sola nave con un coro muy amplio. Hay varias obras expuestas, la más importante de las cuales es de Tom Araújo . También hay estatuas de los cuatro evangelistas (obra de António Pinto Araújo).
