La joubarbe (Sempervivum tectorum), également appelée joubarbe de toit, se trouvait autrefois sur tous les petits bâtiments des fermes ici. Selon la croyance populaire, elle protège contre la foudre et ses feuilles seraient également un remède contre les maux de gorge. En Allemagne, cette plante est parfois appelée Donatuswurz, en référence au saint du tonnerre Donatus, dont le culte est apparu en 1652 en Allemagne et qui est vénéré à Poesele depuis 1860 dans l'église paroissiale.
