Avennes est une section de la commune belge de Braives située en Région wallonne dans la province de Liège.Le Docteur Louis BOXUS - élu conseiller communal lors des élections du 9 octobre 1932, il devint Bourgmestre après les élections communales du 12.10.1938 et le renversement de la majorité socialiste, il le restera jusqu'au élections communales du 10.10.1964 ainsi que Conseiller communal jusqu'à son décès.
