L'un des monuments les plus photographiés au monde. Le moulin a été construit en 1867 sur le site d'un ancien moulin en bois. Depuis des siècles, il y avait un moulin de ban qui a été vendu à la ville par la comtesse Marguerite de Constantinople en 1267. Dans le mur du moulin se trouve une huilerie. C'est un monument protégé et fait partie du paysage urbain protégé. Le moulin est ouvert au public. Vous pouvez visiter le moulin du 1er avril au 30 septembre, les samedis, dimanches et jours fériés de 9h30 à 12h30 et de 13h00 à 18h00. À d'autres jours, une visite est possible avec un guide, sur réservation auprès du service du tourisme de Damme.
