Le fort a été construit en 1907-1908 et était déjà sous le feu allemand en 1914. Le 3 octobre 1914, le fort a été occupé par les Allemands. En 1939-1940, une protection antichar a été mise en place et le fort est devenu partie de la nouvelle ligne Koningshooikt-Waver (ligne KW).
De nombreuses chauves-souris ont trouvé refuge dans le fort. Les espèces les plus courantes sont la chauve-souris roussette, la chauve-souris de nuit, la chauve-souris aquatique, la chauve-souris à queue fourchue, la chauve-souris de Brandt et la chauve-souris à moustaches. Le domaine est une Zone Spéciale de Protection Européenne.
