Autrefois, la galerie Bortier à Bruxelles était un méga lieu de livres, maintenant elle attire des touristes affamés. Depuis 1848, une dizaine de libraires ont élu domicile dans ce complexe couvert, construit dans un style néo-renaissance avec des façades bordeaux, des ornements en bois et un toit en verre ondulé. La galerie a été conçue par Jean-Pierre Cluysenaar, également l'architecte des galeries Saint-Hubert dans le centre-ville.
La galerie Bortier à Bruxelles a été pendant plus de 150 ans une référence dans le monde des livres anciens, jusqu'à ce que la ville de Bruxelles décide d'en faire un « foodspot » tendance.
