Pour l'exposition horticole nationale de 2003, le terrain derrière l'église St. Antonius et Bruno Kleine a été aménagé. Sur l'ancien site de la filature van Delden, les urbanistes ont créé le parc insulaire de Gronau. Des canaux ont été creusés, créant ainsi des îles individuelles ayant chacune une conception unique. Sur l'île du jardin et de l'eau, différentes possibilités de divertissement sont proposées, tout cela en étroite proximité et séparé par des cours d'eau romantiques.
