Le Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt a été fondé en 1980 et comprend aujourd’hui trois sites qui présentent l’histoire d’Eisenhüttenstadt, une galerie d’art avec des œuvres de la RDA et un musée des pompiers et de la technologie.
L’ouverture du Städtisches Museum Eisenhüttenstadt a eu lieu le 6 décembre 1980. Le musée était situé dans un bâtiment Art nouveau avec des motifs de navigation à Löwenstraße 4 dans le quartier de Fürstenberg. Le bâtiment en plâtre de deux étages a été construit en 1906 en tant que bâtiment résidentiel pour le compte du directeur de la coopérative des bateaux à vapeur, Carl Reiche, et a été reconstruit en 1977. Il s’agit d’un bâtiment classé.
