Parent est une commune française située dans le département du Puy-de-Dôme, en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Elle fait partie de l'aire urbaine de Clermont-Ferrand et se situe à proximité de Vic-le-Comte.
La commune dominée par le puy d'Écouyat est bordée à l'ouest par la rivière Allier. La plus grande partie de la commune profite d'une vue extraordinaire sur la vallée de l'Allier, Montpeyroux et la chaîne du Sancy.
