L’ancienne abbaye cistercienne de Buzay, située sur la commune française de Rouans en Loire-Atlantique, fut fondée en 1135 par Bernard de Clairvaux. La tour de Buzay en est l’unique vestige.À la demande d’Ermengarde d’Anjou, veuve d’Alain IV Fergent et mère de Conan III, duc de Bretagne, une abbaye fut fondée en 1135 par Bernard de Clairvaux sur le site de Buzay. Dès l’année suivante, en 1136, une première communauté d’une douzaine de moines s’installe dans cette nouvelle abbaye avec pour prieur, Nivard, le frère cadet de Bernard de Clairvaux. L’ordre cistercien est alors en pleine expansion.
