Cortone est une commune italienne d'environ 22 000 habitants située dans la province d'Arezzo, en Toscane . Elle constitue le principal centre culturel et touristique du Val di Chiana arétin. Sa surface est la quatrième de Toscane et la trentième d'Italie.
Ancienne lucumonie appartenant à la dodécapole étrusque, elle est située au sud de la province d'Arezzo et au sud-est de la Toscane, à la limite de l'Ombrie.
