La Via des Gens de Verbania Intra à la frontière suisse représentait l'ancienne route de liaison entre les pays du Verbano et la Suisse. La Via se poursuivait ensuite en Suisse le long des pays du Lac Majeur jusqu'à Locarno, puis dans la plaine de Magadino où elle se reliait à la Via qui montait au Passo del San Gottardo. Le tronçon de Verbania à la frontière d'État se fait en deux étapes agréables faisables tout au long de l'année, sauf en cas de chutes de neige imminentes. C'est un itinéraire qui s'effectue à flanc de montagne, toujours avec une vue splendide sur le Lac Majeur, et qui permet de traverser de petits villages et la Réserve du Sacro Monte de Ghiffa, Patrimoine Unesco, atteignant enfin les merveilleux bourgs lacustres de Cannero et de Cannobio.
