La chapelle de Marie à Gilze (commune de Gilze en Rijen) est composée d'un mur en briques avec un petit toit en pignon. Dans la niche se trouve une statue en pierre naturelle de Marie avec l'enfant.
L'histoire
La chapelle de Marie à Gilze (commune de Gilze en Rijen) a été fondée par les habitants de la maison de retraite Saint-François en signe de gratitude pour avoir été épargnés pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
À Gilze, pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, de nombreuses victimes sont tombées et des bâtiments ont été détruits. Gilze se trouvait dans la trajectoire d'approche vers l'aéroport de Gilze-Rijen, ce qui a entraîné des bombardements alliés (non intentionnels) sur le village.
Création
Néanmoins, la maison de retraite située sur la Kerkstraat a été épargnée. C'est pourquoi, à l'époque, il a été promis à Marie qu'après la guerre, une chapelle de campagne serait érigée en son honneur.
Inauguration
La chapelle a été bénie le 2 octobre 1948.
