La Zwalmmolen è un eccellente punto di partenza per numerose escursioni. Nella casa del mulino è possibile noleggiare biciclette. Da qui si può camminare sia a monte che a valle lungo un sentiero lungo il torrente Zwalmbeek. Si può anche scalare la collina; questa salita è conosciuta localmente con il nome di "Zwalmberg". Dalla cima si ha una vista panoramica sulla valle dello Zwalm. Alla Zwalmmolen si trova il punto di partenza del sentiero pedonale Zwalmbeek e della pista ciclabile della Watermolen. Qui passa anche la AVS Zwalmroute, un percorso ciclabile di 50 km. Questo percorso non deve essere confuso con la Zwalmroute, un percorso automobilistico di 90 km.
