Julius de Geyter (1830-1905) nacque a Lede (presso Aalst) il 25 aprile 1830 e si trasferì a 18 anni ad Anversa, dove visse e lavorò per il resto della sua vita. Julius de Geyter (1830-1905) era un giornalista fiammingo, poeta e flamingante che si impegnò fortemente per la sopravvivenza e la diffusione del lavoro e degli ideali di Multatuli (Eduard Douwes Dekker). È considerato il principale sostenitore di Multatuli nelle Fiandre ed era un olandese del Grande Nord progressista-liberale con un ruolo attivo nel Movimento Fiammingo.
Ad Anversa lavorò tra l'altro come insegnante, traduttore, redattore e successivamente direttore della Banca di Prestiti. Era coinvolto in riviste letterarie come De Vlaamsche School e scrisse poesia, cantate e riscritture come quella di Reinaert de Vos. Il suo indirizzo di residenza si trovava ad Anversa; uno degli indirizzi noti in cui abitò era in Venusstraat 11.
