Il Hoogbos è una foresta su un altopiano a sud di Mheer. La maggior parte della foresta si trova in Belgio. Nell'ultimo pezzo dei Paesi Bassi si cammina tra profumati abeti e antichi querce. Al bordo della foresta cresce il vischio e si può ammirare un tipico paesaggio della Limburgo meridionale: prati con siepi di biancospino, frutteti e colline.
Nella foresta si percorrono diversi sentieri incassati, spesso con tane di tasso. Si possono anche vedere nella foresta alcune strane depressioni, chiamate doline. Questo avviene perché il calcare presente nel terreno si scioglie in condizioni particolari e quindi il terreno affonda.
