Questa modesta casa operaia del XIX secolo, tutto sommato banale con le sue facciate di mattoni e il suo tetto di tegole, fu il luogo di residenza di Vincent Van Gogh da agosto 1879 a ottobre 1880. Minacciata a causa del suo cattivo stato, l'abitazione, detta anche casa del Marais, fu salvata negli anni '70 prima di essere riabilitata dal 2005 al 2007 per ospitare il museo Van Gogh. Qui si possono ammirare in particolare "I Bècheurs" (1880), disegno a carboncino realizzato a Cuesmes dall'artista che si rivelò realmente come tale durante il suo soggiorno nel Borinage.
