Il campanile di Kortrijk, situato al centro della Grand Place, è originariamente una torre della precedente sala delle stoffe. La prima menzione di quella sala risale al 1248, fu demolita alla fine del XIX secolo.
Il campanile stesso è un'imponente torre quadrata, leggermente interrata poiché la piazza è stata innalzata nel corso dei secoli. L'aspetto attuale è principalmente determinato dal 1520.
Sulla guglia della torre si trova una statuetta dorata del 1712 di Mercurio, il dio romano del commercio, e sulla parte anteriore puoi vedere Manten e Kalle, due figurine che segnano le ore. Risalgono al Medioevo, ma le attuali statuette datano dal 1961.
La torre è protetta come monumento dal 1937 ed è stata riconosciuta come patrimonio dell'umanità dall'Unesco nel 1999.
