La stazione fu inaugurata il 14 gennaio 1853 dalla Société des chemins de fer de la Flandre-Occidentale come parte della linea ferroviaria 69. L'edificio della stazione è di tipo 1895 ed è stato costruito nel 1912, dalle Ferrovie dello Stato in sostituzione di un vecchio edificio della stazione del 1855. La stazione è stata il punto di partenza per l'espansione del nucleo del villaggio di Wevelgem e ha avuto una grande importanza economica regionale grazie al trasporto di carbone e flax. Il gabinetto sanitario e il magazzino merci risalgono al 1924. Nel 2001 l'edificio della stazione con il gabinetto sanitario, il magazzino merci e la recinzione in cemento sono stati protetti.
