Neuchâtel è un comune svizzero di 33 475 abitanti del Canton Neuchâtel, nel distretto di Neuchâtel, sulla sponda settentrionale del lago di Neuchâtel; ha lo status di città ed è capitale del cantone e capoluogo del distretto. Nel 1930 ha inglobato il comune soppresso di La Coudre.
Vi si parla per lo più il francese in quanto si trova nella parte della Confederazione detta Svizzera romanda.
