La Fortezza Foppa Grande è una fortificazione svizzera sulla sponda sud del Passo del Gottardo nel Cantone Ticino. Si trova a 1540 m s.l.m. all'ingresso della Tremola, lungo la vecchia strada del Gottardo, sopra Motto Bartola. L'opera, costruita nel 1940, è stata dichiarata non più riservata nel 1997 e nel 2003 è stata restituita come Sito Storico Foppa Grande, subendo un restauro.
Nel 1929 l'Italia aveva costruito una strada per il Passo di San Giacomo, che si trova a solo 14 chilometri di distanza dal portale sud del tunnel ferroviario del Gottardo. I pesanti cannoni dell'artiglieria italiana si avvicinarono così minacciosamente alla fortezza centrale del Gottardo. Si ritenne urgentemente necessario un rinforzo delle fortificazioni obsolete costruite dal 1886 al 1894, Forte Airolo, Fortificazione Motto Bartola e Fort Hospiz.
