Dissen si trova sul versante sud dei Monti Teutoburger, al confine con la Ostwestfalen. La cima più alta è il Hankenüll, al confine nord-est della città. Il territorio comunale si estende da est a ovest per circa 8 km, da nord a sud per circa 10 km. L'uso del suolo è suddiviso come segue: 35% uso agricolo, 41% superficie forestale, 16% superfici di edifici e cortili e 8% aree di traffico e altre superfici.
