Ruhla è un comune nello stato federato tedesco della Turingia e fa parte del Wartburgkreis.
Ruhla conta 5.701 abitanti. Oltre alla città, il comune comprende anche i villaggi di Thal e Kittelsthal. Inoltre, Ruhla funge da comune delegato per l'amministrazione del comune di Seebach.
La chiesa fu costruita nel 1660/61 ed è rimasta invariata dalla sua costruzione.
È una delle 5 rare chiese angolari in Germania e appartiene alle due cosiddette vere chiese angolari.
Questo significa che è stata progettata e costruita come chiesa angolare sin dall'inizio, a differenza degli altri edifici ecclesiastici che sono diventati chiese angolari solo attraverso ampliamenti e ristrutturazioni.
Poiché Ruhla è rimasta al di fuori degli orrori bellici durante le guerre mondiali, anche la chiesa di St. Concordia non è stata coinvolta nella devastazione. Pertanto, è l'unica chiesa rimasta invariata nel suo stato originale dalla sua costruzione.
