La Lenne è un affluente di 129,1 km, orograficamente di sinistra e sud-est, del Reno nel Nordreno-Vestfalia. Con una portata media di 30,1 m³/s, è il corso d'acqua più ricco e quindi il più importante affluente del Reno. Per la produzione di energia elettrica, è sbarrato in molti punti.
La Lenne ha origine all'interno dell'Hochsauerland nel Rothaargebirge. La fonte della Lenne si trova vicino alla città principale di Winterberg, circa 315 m a ovest della cima della torre panoramica Astenturm, situata a circa 825 m s.l.m. In loco è stata apposta una piccola targa di metallo con la seguente iscrizione: “LENNEQUELLE – 830 m s.l.m. – Lunghezza del fiume 138 km”. L'altezza e la lunghezza menzionate lì contrastano con i valori forniti dal governo distrettuale di Colonia: 825 m di altezza e 129,1 km di lunghezza. Sul sentiero didattico Kahler Asten e sul Rothaarsteig, che attraversano entrambi l'Hochheide, si arriva alla fonte.
